DESIGN
Contour has two UK-based facilities that house the Design Engineering team.
We have the capability to visualise your next product through Industrial Design, either sourced externally or via an internal team. Our experience of working with industrial design firms, whether retained by the airline or Contour, ensures we understand the concept designer’s intent and how to translate that into a product designed for manufacture.
We have a range of generic products that have optional features allowing customisation or we can develop a bespoke solution for our customers. Our role as guardian of design intent means less dilution of those features that separate a good product from an industry-leading one. Our aim is to create stronger differentiation for our customers’ products and a better experience for the passenger.
Contour’s engineering and programme teams are focussed on maintaining design intent, meeting cost and time commitments and delivering a certifiable product to our customers.
A number of tools are used to make sure the Engineering teams work smoothly across our two UK-based sites; use of an Engineering intranet ensures that everyone receives the correct information and is working to the standards set in the design manual.
Additionally:
Contour offers a full suite of CAD systems to complement any designer’s skillset.
Contour has at its disposal a series of analytical tools such as Dynamic and Stress Analysis
Within Engineering we have mechanical, electrical and certification specialists who collaborate to develop next generation seating, proven in various dynamic test areas.
Our robust NPI process ensures that all programmes adhere to major customer milestones, such as:
ITCM (Initial Technical Co-ordination Meeting),
PDR (Preliminary Design Review),
CDR (Critical Design Review) and
FAI (First Article Inspection)
