What is the role of the Mechanical Certification Engineer?

  • To ensure that new seat mechanical designs meet the strict safety requirements set out by the regulatory authorities (FAA and EASA).
  • To identify critical seats for test, then plan, conduct and report all of the testing required by the regulations, including dynamic (crash), occupant injury, static, abuse, cyclic and environmental tests.
  • Maintain continued airworthiness of the product through its life.

  • An engineer who can form concise and clear rational arguments to justify the qualification of each aspect of the design.
  • Excellent technical report writing and communication within the company and with senior figures within Boeing, Airbus, EASA and the FAA.
  • Someone with creativity, innovation and good knowledge of structures and strength of materials.
  • A candidate with good organisational and project management skills.
  • Suitable applicants should have a minimum 2:1 degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Automotive Engineering or similar.
