What is the role of the Strategic Buyer?

• Manage the product within the supply chain through the New Product Introduction cycle of a programme through to production
• Sourcing of quality product, within budget, on time in line with the Strategic Sourcing Strategy
• Supplier selection, development and relationship management
• Total supply chain management using project management techniques and tools
• Ensure price file accuracy

What kind of applicant are we looking for?

• Somebody with the ability to think out of the box, challenging design and manufacturing processes to improve efficiency within the Supply Chain and deliver cost benefits to the business
• A commercially astute and analytically minded individual
• Degree educated in Supply Chain Management or a Business Studies related discipline

What does Supply Chain Management offer to graduates?

• Experience of a global supply chain and understanding of total acquisition cost
• Experience of taking a product from concept through to manufacture and how an agile supply chain supports the business requirements
• Exposure to external market forces and impacts on the supply chain and how it affects decision making
• An awareness of the importance that the Supply Chain holds within an organisation  

What are the objectives of the Supply Chain Management placement? 

• Review work packages for sourcing in line with the Commodity Strategy
• Work as part of a cross functional team with design and engineering
• Interrogate drawings and compile quotation packages for tender
• Review lead times, manufacturing processes, shipment methods within the Supply Chain
• Understand and challenge total acquisition cost - NRE, RE
• Supplier selection and negotiation of terms and conditions and participate in supplier business reviews
• Project manage orders from placement of order through to first deliveries
