Air China selects Contour’s First Class Suite

Air China’s B777-300ERs will be entering into service later this month with their new luxury First Class suite, customised and installed by UK manufacturer, Contour Aerospace Limited.

Contour’s Mercury suite was chosen ahead of its competitors because of its intuitive design which matched Air China’s vision and provided their customers with the maximum in space, privacy and comfort.

Senior Programme Manager at Contour Aerospace, Graham McNamara said the Mercury suite is evidence of Contour’s ability to work closely with their customers to deliver cutting-edge, innovative solutions.

“We have worked closely with Boeing and Air China over the last 18 months to ensure the Mercury Suites were certified and delivered on time,” he said.

“We are pleased to say that despite a tight schedule to work with, which involved an intensive smoke and toxicity and cyclic testing campaign, the suite has outperformed expectations in the areas of reliability and efficiency,” he added.

“With its bespoke intuitive controls and innovative ergonomic designs such as the large sliding table and reading light, we believe this suite offers the flexibility to satisfy all passengers’ moods and taste.”

Technical Sales Director at Contour Aerospace, Bob Lovell, said the contract adds to the company’s growing portfolio of supplying bespoke blue sky products to the world’s leading airlines.

“We have been very pleased to have been part of this project with Air China,” he said.

“Our integrated approach to design and manufacturer high premium seating for any scenario or requirement helped us establish a very quick and successful partnership from the offset. The B777-300ER Mercury Suite has all the desired attributes in providing a truly memorable experience for any future First Class Air China passenger and we look forward to seeing our suite in the skies very soon.”
