Contour staff take to their bikes for charity
Staff at Contour Cwmbran have cycled their way to raise over £2,000 for charity.
A team of 17 cyclists from Contour Aerospace Limited, a leading manufacturer of interiors for the world’s major airlines, took part in the Taff Trail Bike Ride in aid of St David’s Foundation Hospice Care.
Alisdair McLaren, who works at Contour’s Cwmbran site has been taking part in charity bike rides for St David’s Foundation for four years:
“A small group of Contour staff have taken part in cycling events like this before, but this is by far the biggest participation we’ve had from Contour, and it’s made such a difference to the amount we’ve managed to raise for this special cause,” he said.
As well as raising £2,000 for St David’s Foundation by peddling the 55-mile trail, Contour provided its staff with transportation to the starting line in Brecon and back from the finishing point in Cardiff Bay, as well as jerseys for the whole Contour team.
“A number of staff at Contour have had friends or family members that have been personally supported by St David’s Foundation, so it’s great that we can all get together and help to give something back,” concluded Alisdair.
St David’s Foundation has been providing a ‘Hospice at Home service’ in Newport, Torfaen, Caerphilly, South Powys and Monmouthshire for over 30 years. Last year St David’s Foundation cared for over 2,800 patients facing a life-threatening illness, along with continued support for their families and carers. At any one time our nurses are caring for over 100 patients. The service is provided free-of-charge to our patients and families but costs the organisation £5.4 million per year to run.
